Wet.
Everything down here is wet.
And it stinks.
I expected as much, but the draw of what I overheard brought me here anyway.
I overheard two guards talking about some…“Thing” that a woman saw while walking through the harbor at night. She said she heard a strange wet sound and could not place it, following the noise out of curiosity until she stumbled on the strangest scene:
A deceased cat being consumed by some formless creature. It did not react when she screamed. Only when she threw a rock at it did it seem to even acknowledge her presence.
Into the sewer drain it went, disappearing somewhere beneath the streets.
I've long had theories about such creatures existing deep within the sewers, particularly after what was said to have been observed during the Great Washout centuries ago. If my theories are correct, I may be able to extract a sample that will be just as, if not more, valuable than the entire organism itself.
