Text:
Many who are curious about the vast darkness that exists below us know of the lichen-like growths that grow from the walls of many caverns. To our people, it is known as “Tark's Breath”, as it seems highly averse to the sun's light, and yet where the growths are found the air remains sweet and breathable.
Most kinds are indistinguishable from plain gray and brown Granum, but I have heard from a Sheevra that occasionally they are different colors.
It would seem deep fungi grow best in areas of particularly thick growths of Tark's Breath. It is not exactly a common thing to find on the surface, and as such, I have had much difficulty growing full caps from the spores that have recently been brought to me.
The glowing worms of the deep seem to match the glow of the mushrooms presented to them. I do not know if this is because they eat it, or if they can identify the correct color to hide from predators.
Several have spun cocoons, which I did not expect. I wonder what they will become with time?
