The Kallardian continent of Nordveld is a place of magnificent mountains and bitter cold, and its people are a reflection of it. The harsh conditions of this northern realm have fostered a tall and physically strong race in the Kallards. Though not as physically or mentally dexterous as other races, they have a strength of will that is unmatched.

Most Kallard irises are very pale, ranging from white to light blue. This isn't necessarily due to lack of pigmentation, however. The conjunctiva is thick and cloudy, and covers the iris as well as the pupil where it becomes thinner and semi-reflective. This makes the pupil look pale in dim light and white in bright environments. The tougher conjunctiva protects against photokeratitis and glares at the cost of slightly reduced scotopic vision.

Throughout history, the Kallards and Blainn have been allies. The two races live together in relatively autonomous klans ruled by Hövdings or clan leaders, which are part of larger regions called läns.
