An inhospitable volcanic continent perpetually cloaked in a green haze and dotted with acid lakes, Herabalter is connected to Myrland to the northeast through a land bridge upon which has persisted a Risar fortification in various forms for as long as anyone can remember. Some believe the continent to be the origin point of all Styganthropes or “Dark Folk”—though actual evidence proving this claim is scarce—and one look is all it takes to understand why the Risar are so intent on invading Myrland.

Ancient Tindremic maps of highly questionable integrity make note of several notable locales on the continent, perhaps foremost being a massive volcano—part of a mountain range called the Muspel Ridge—named Mount Maal which empties in part into the sea on the continent's northern coast at a location called Maal's Tongue.
