The crude and unfinished nature of the previous section would suggest that it was not our ancient ancestors who reached this larger natural cave, but instead the men who lived here just a few decades ago.
If the petrified remains we had to clear are any indication? Evidently they died here too.
I do not know what I had expected to see when the rubble blocking the entrance was cleared, but it wasn't a cavern full of evidence of ancient incantations and rituals.
Even for the local Khurs are uncertain of their purpose, though they hardly stay for long.
I cannot blame them. The sights are ghastly, even if the reek of death has long since faded. The whole skeletons of men and beasts, some clearly suffering violent ends.
Chimes made of bones, strange altars litter the corners of the cavern, and the only light to be found is that of our torches.
