 +===== Text: =====
+This book has been approved by the [[:Tindremene|Tindremic]] Literary Council of [[:Morin Khur]].
 +
+//Morin Khur// has existed for quite some time as something of an anomaly among the [[:Khurite]] people. While the tribes of the forests and steppes wander [[:Myrland]] mixing their cultures and intermingling with one another, the tribes of //Morin Khur// and [[:Toxai]] are rather stationary.
 +
+It is little wonder that both became places where nomadic tribes will also occasionally gather, considering the reliability of their presence. With settlement comes the need for farming, such as rice in //Morin Khur// and seaweed in //Toxai//. With farming, if done properly, comes excess and the ability to better store more food in case of drought, famine, or some other such disaster.
 +
+The tribes of the two cities reflect this change in culture quite naturally, reflecting those seen in many other settled societies. The people themselves still highly prize physical skills such as horse riding and swimming, but there is also value placed on adherence to laws and social order that is less //"free"// than those found in [[:Khurite#Life in a Myrland Khurite Tribe|Khurens]].
 +
+While exile remains a common punishment, imprisonment, enslavement, and fines are also popular. Executions are unique in that the [[:Khurite#Khurs|Khurs]] are severely hesitant to spill blood on the ground.
 +
+Their methods of disposing criminals are thus rather inventive, such as rolling one up in a carpet and then having him be trampled by horses, tying one up and throwing them in a river, or locking them in a box and leaving them to be subjected to the elements.
 +
+Wrestling matches are another form of execution, where an executioner will engage in a fight with the offender. The executioner is invariably a large man, sometimes a [[:Thursar]], who is strong enough to break someone's back over their knee.
 +
+Typically multiple steps are taken to ensure the executioner will win, including giving them armor while the offender fights in rags. Often the offender is purposefully paralyzed and left for dead so that a natural sky burial may take place.
 +
+This same practice is often not extended to those who are not //Khurs//.
 +
+But the people of //Morin Khur// are not only their executions, and despite their infamy they make up a rather small portion of their culture.
 +
+[[:Khurite#Khurite Religion|Angaqs]] here are typically not solitary members of their tribes as they often are when found riding the steppes. Though especially small tribes may have only one //angaq//, most have multiple who may even live in certain homes together. The unique cultural expectations of the city have even allowed for temples, where their shamans may learn, worship, and perform their rites among other like minded individuals.
 +
+It is not uncommon for a resident of //Morin Khur// in need of spiritual or magical assistance to visit a temple in the city.
