Commonly grouped into the classification known as Rat Folks, there are at least three different documented species of Tribe Rats in the order Myomorpha. On Myrland, they are seen as a somewhat dangerous nuisance known to inhabit abandoned ruins, mines, underground structures, and natural cave systems.
Larger populations of Tribe Rats often exist as multi-species societies, and this is particularly common with the territorial rat-like forms often found in close proximity to large human settlements. Although most kinds of Tribe Rats are roughly the size of a human or smaller, certain rare subspecies can grow to frighteningly large proportions. In the Tribe Rat colony in the caverns deep below Morin Khur, it would seem they exclusively designate one of these species as “chieftains” in a display of this colony's specific culture.
During the Age of Strife on Myrland, a sizeable and ever-expanding invasion of Tribe Rats migrated westward from the mountains and hills north of Cave Camp, eventually making their way to the northern side of Mons Regalis where they burrowed their way into the Tindrem Sewers, residing there to this very day.
