//The Sundering of Asterra// was a cataclysmic event of unclear cause and circumstance on [[Nave]] which saw the supercontinent of //Asterra// torn apart, and even caused a sizeable portion of the planet sink into the sea. The event marked the end of the [[Shinaria|Shinarian Civilization]] on what is now [[Sidoia]] and potentially also the [[Pari|Sith Pari Civilization]] on [[Sarducaa]].

[[Urmothar|Urmothâr]]—or as the [[Tindremene#Tindremenes]] call it, //Lykia//—in the south-east, //Sidoia// in the south-west, //Sarducaa// in the west, and [[Nordveld]] in the north-west fell apart from [[Myrland]], as the tectonic plates of the southern hemisphere sunk several hundred meters into the ocean. //Sidoia// itself perhaps fared the worst, with most of its former landmass dragged under the waves.

This left behind a massive landmass fault and an enormous waterfall—hundreds of meters steep—between the //Inner Sea// in the north and the //Coral Sea// in the south, called //[[Gods#Tecton|Tecton's]] Fault//. As it previously rested on top of what became //Tecton's Fault//, the massive land bridge between //Myrland// and //Nordveld// was reduced to but an island.

//Shinarian// records and artifacts both prior and contemporary to //The Sundering// are extremely rare and highly coveted by the //self-described// descendants of the //Shinarian Civilization//—the //Tindremenes//—and a former slave race of //Shinaria//—the [[Sidoian|Sidoians]].

Similarly, the [[Sarducaa#Pre-Sundering History|Yequedah Magi]] of //Sarducaa//—while not likely descendants of the //Sith Pari//—covet and hoard all knowledge and records involving them on the continent. These records supposedly stretch back as far as //The Sundering// itself, and it has been speculated that the foundation of modern [[Magic#Spiritism|Spiritist]] practices is [[Etherworld#The Ether|owed to them]] as well.
