The //Dark Folks// are a group of humanoid and semi-humanoids originating from or primarily seen on the dark continent of [[Herabalter]], with their most well-known members being the [[Risar]], [[Troll|Trolls]], and [[Steintroll|Steintrolls]]. As all known //Dark Folks// are classified as [[Zoology#Mammalia|Styganthropes]], it is possible that this is their only zoological classification.

The //Risar// demonstrate almost //Human// levels of intellect, visibly have troll-like features, and typically subscribe to a brutal and war-like hierarchical tribal culture valuing strength-as-power. The //Risar// have been invading [[Myrland]] by way of the land bridge that connects it to //Herabalter// for as long as anyone living can remember.

//Steintrolls// are diminutive, seemingly unintelligent humanoids with //troll-like// features which stand at about half the height of an average //Human//. While sightings of //Steintrolls// were very common during the [[Timeline#The Age of Strife|Age of Strife]] as the //Risar// commonly employed them as slaves, sightings of them on //Myrland// are unheard of after [[The Irruption]].

[[Troll|Trolls]] are massive humanoids of low intelligence but incredible strength, and have the remarkable tendency to adapt to their environment in relatively short order leading to their persistence in locales far from //Herabalter//. Variants such as [[Troll#Forest Troll|Forest Trolls]], [[Troll#Frost Troll|Frost Trolls]], and [[Troll#Jungle Troll|Jungle Trolls]] are not at all uncommon sights on //Myrland//.

Some scholars believe that //Trolls// share a common ancestor with //Humans//, albeit one which existed far into the annals of [[Timeline#Pre-History|pre-history]].
